MA in Islamic Studies - Course Content Arabic Language and Literature - Ibrahim Darwish Muhammad This course, designed for non-Arabic speaking students, provides a general background of Arabic and its structure. Although the emphasis will be on developing the students' communicative skills, the course will focus on the development of reading and writing skills necessary for students of Islamic Studies. The course is divided into three levels: Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced. In each level the students study a variety of Arabic texts, both classical and modern. Grammar (syntax, semantics, etc.) is taught functionally. The aim of this course is to enable students to consult materials and sources required for the study of Islam. It is also intended to help the student acquire adequate knowledge of the language to help in communicating with Arabic speakers. This course is divided into two modules, each taught in one academic year.
